Being entirely new to skiing and ski touring, I marked some easy objectives for the first climbs of the season. The rando track from Les Houches to the top of the Prairion télécabine was a perfect start, with the last section being quite challenging, slippery, and requiring several kick turns. It is also largely in the forest, meaning you don’t have to spend significant amounts of time watching people skiing down. Once at the top, there is a long blue run (on piste) that brings you all the way back to the valley floor and the bus stop, making this an easy one to both go up and down. Of course, the views from the top are phenomenal, as they always are in the valley.
